FAQs

These FAQs should be read in conjunction with the Amicus Ignite Terms and Conditions.
Amicus Therapeutics is a biotechnology company at the forefront of advanced therapies to treat a range of devastating rare diseases.

Amicus Therapeutics is committed to improving the lives of people living with Pompe disease and their caregivers. A core tenet of this commitment is close partnership with patient communities, ensuring that their needs are truly incorporated into the delivery of holistic care.
Amicus has engaged a third-party service provider called Publicis Langland to assist with the administration of the Amicus Ignite programme.
Amicus Ignite is a proactive community funding programme for initiatives that support people living with Pompe disease.

We invite applications from across the Pompe community, including healthcare institutions, patient advocacy organisations, academic institutions and charitable organisations to support and improve the lives of those impacted by Pompe disease. Currently, applications are only open to organisations and projects located outside of the United States.

Applications to Amicus Ignite should be innovative, scalable, replicable and sustainable and aim to make a tangible difference to people living with Pompe. Funding of up to €20,000 (or local currency equivalent) for a limited number of projects is available. Projects need to be completed in one year from the receipt of funding and create lasting change for those impacted by Pompe disease.

Funding of up to €20,000 (or local currency equivalent) for a limited number of projects is available. Projects need to be completed in one year from the receipt of the funding and create lasting change for those impacted by Pompe disease. The amount available for each project will depend on several factors, such as the budget breakdown of each request.
We invite applications from across the Pompe disease community, including healthcare institutions, patient advocacy organisations, and academic institutions to support and improve the lives of those impacted by Pompe disease.

Examples of types of proposals that are appropriate for Amicus Ignite include, but are not limited to:
  1. Disease information animation
  2. Learning programmes
  3. Disease management platforms unrelated to medicinal treatment

Applications for projects that relate to a particular medicinal treatment or Amicus products are not permitted and will not be funded.

Projects related to advancing medical research will not be funded by Amicus Ignite. Questions about research should be directed to Elizabeth Minas (Associate Director, International Medical Affairs at Amicus Therapeutics) via eminas@amicusrx.com.

Unfortunately, those looking for individual or PhD funding are not eligible to apply to this funding programme.

Funding cannot be awarded to ongoing or retrospective projects.

Projects or initiatives supported by funding must be started and completed within a maximum 12-month period following the receipt of funding. Funding will be provided for a maximum of one year.
Eligible applications will undergo a review process and an expert panel of clinicians, patient organisation representatives and Amicus stakeholders will evaluate the applications and make decisions concerning successful proposals.

The selection process will be co-ordinated by Publicis Langland, a third-party service provider engaged by Amicus.
Each application should reflect four key criteria to maximise the chances of a successful application:

Innovative
  • A creative and original idea that offers a new solution or approach to solving a problem or fulfilling an unmet need. It challenges conventional thinking and can lead to breakthroughs in processes or systems.

Scalable
  • An idea that has the potential to grow and expand efficiently without a corresponding increase in costs or resources. It can be extended to larger geographies, operations or audiences.

Replicable
  • The idea can be easily repeated or reproduced in different contexts or locations with consistent results. It typically follows a clear and structured process, allowing others to implement it successfully without significant changes.

Sustainable
  • A sustainable idea is one that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own, balancing economic, social, and environmental considerations.

Applications should aim to make a tangible difference to people living with Pompe disease.
